Anything ever like Favre’s return?
by OldSchool
There might not be anything ever to equal Brett Favre’s return to Green Bay today in the uniform of a rival, but there have been similarities. Here are some:
Raiders hero and Super Bowl-winning quarterback Ken Stabler returning to Oakland with the Houston Oilers in a 1980 playoff game.
Lions hero and NFL championship quarterback Bobby Layne returning to Detroit with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1960.
Browns trailblazing, innovative and championship-winning coach Paul Brown returning to Cleveland as coach of the Cincinnati Bengals in 1970.
In other sports:
Willie Mays returning to San Francisco as a Met in July of 1972.
Rick Barry returning to the Bay Area as a Houston Rocket in 1978.
Catfish Hunter returning to Oakland as a Yankee pitcher in May of 1975.
